Volkswagen introduced the Type 2 in 1950 as its second mass-production vehicle, and a single-cab pickup joined in August 1952. Its bed floor sits high above the rear engine, so most pickups came with drop sides as well as a tailgate. After 1971 VW pickups practically disappeared from the US market. The one we have is a 1971 Type 2 single-cab pickup with a manual gearbox.
