The S800 replaced the S600 as Honda's image car, with a redline of 8,500 rpm. Its 791 cc four makes 70 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, making it Honda's first 100 mph car while still returning 35 mpg. Early cars kept chain drive to the rear wheels. In February 1968 the S800M brought flush interior door handles, side marker lights and dual-circuit brakes. Honda built the S800 through May 1970.
