The Esprit was among the first of Giorgetto Giugiaro's wedge-shaped folded paper designs. In 1996 Lotus launched the Esprit V8 with its own Type 918 engine. The 3.5-liter all-aluminum V8 uses a flat-plane crank and two Garrett turbochargers. It was detuned from a potential 500 horsepower to 350, to protect the gearbox. Here we have a 1997 Esprit V8 in midnight blue, with a purple tint at some angles. It has a gray interior and a manual gearbox.
