The Volkswagen Type 181 is a two-wheel-drive, four-door convertible, originally developed for the West German Army. In the United States and Canada it was sold as the Thing. Volkswagen built it from 1968 to 1983. The one we have is a 1972 Thing in cream over a black interior, with a four-speed manual.
