The W114 and W115 arrived in 1968 as Mercedes-Benz New Generation models. Their ID plates carried a /8 for the launch year, giving the nickname Strich Acht, or stroke eight. W115 cars had four-cylinder engines, with D marking the diesels, and the 220 D used the 2.2-liter OM615 diesel. They introduced the semi-trailing rear arms used on Mercedes cars until the 1980s. The one we have is a 1971 220D sedan, with an automatic gearbox.
