The 1957 Chevrolet was introduced in September 1956. GM had wanted an all-new car, but production delays kept the 1955 to 1956 design for one more year. A new dashboard, a sealed cowl and air ducts moved into the headlight pods gave it its chrome headlights. Bel Airs carried a ribbed aluminum insert in the tail fins.
