The 86 was developed jointly by Toyota and Subaru, with a naturally aspirated boxer engine driving the rear wheels. It takes inspiration from the AE86 Corolla and balances its weight 53/47 front to rear. In North America, the Scion FR-S became the Toyota 86 for the 2017 model year.
