The Boxster Spyder sat above the Boxster S and weighed 80 kilograms less, making it the lightest Porsche on sale at its launch. Porsche cut weight with aluminum doors and rear deck, by deleting the powered top mechanism and with its lightest 19-inch wheels. It rides almost an inch lower on firmer suspension.
