For 1998 the Firebird got a mid-cycle refresh, with a new hood and front fascia with dual intakes and retracting quad headlights. The Trans Am took the LS1 V8 from the C5 Corvette, with an aluminum driveshaft and four-wheel disc brakes. Firebird production ended on August 30, 2002.
