The R129 SL arrived in 1989 as a two-seat convertible with a removable hardtop. It was the first Mercedes with a fully automatic, hydraulically operated fabric top. An automatic rollbar deploys in a rollover, and can also be raised by a switch. Projector HID headlamps arrived in 1995. The one we have is a 1999 SL500 in black on chrome Monoblock wheels, with an automatic gearbox.
