The 850i launched the E31 8 Series in 1990 with a 5.0-liter V12. It was the first road car to pair a V12 with a six-speed manual, and one of the first with an electronic drive-by-wire throttle. Around autumn 1993 it was renamed the 850Ci. The pillarless coupe body has no B-pillar. This particular example is a 1993 850Ci in Jet Black.
