GM downsized all its intermediates for 1978, and the Monte Carlo came out 700 to 800 pounds lighter and 15 inches shorter. It still offered more interior room than before. For 1979 it got a restyled grille, revised parking lamps and new wraparound taillamps. You're looking at a 1979 Monte Carlo in Starlight Sable black.
