From 1965 every Wagoneer came with a standard safety package of front and rear seat belts, a padded dashboard, a high-impact windshield and dual brakes. Late in 1965 the 250-horsepower 327 AMC V8 became available, and an AMC 232 six replaced the Tornado engine. The independent front suspension option was dropped for 4WD models that year.
