Early split-window buses built until 1955 were called Barndoors, after their enormous rear engine cover. From 1956 the T1 was built at a new Transporter factory. The 23-window sunroof DeLuxe, nicknamed the Samba, added eight small skylight windows and curved rear corner windows. This one is a 1956 Volkswagen 23-window bus in red over a brown interior.
