Frequently Asked Questions

What's the process once my vehicle gets selected?

1. Once your vehicle(s) is selected, a communication bridge is opened where we communicate with you (vehicle owner) and the set team where paperwork is presented, and all coordination is ironed out. In this stage we make it clear what is approved and not approved to be done with your vehicle(s) (for example: no driving over 65mph, no leaning on hood, etc.). We ask for this information from both you, the owner, and the production for what they want to be done with the vehicle(s).

2. On shooting day, vehicle(s) are transported to the location in the manner agreed upon, either by you, the owner, us, or through a transporter. We make the safety of your vehicle our top priority. We cater to both you and our clients, so we take care of everything from vehicle transportation to on-site management and communicate and make clear the process after your vehicle is selected.

3. On set, standard practice is that our car handling/on set team takes over the logistics of your vehicle. Taking detailed media of the vehicle(s) before any talent or production crew can approach. This ensures that no damage is done by us and our team at Malibu Autobahn Picture Cars. Once finished, production takes over the process, telling our team where to place/drive the vehicles according to our agreements and moving production crew and talent in and around the vehicle(s). During this entire process, our team stays very close to the vehicle(s), right off camera/audience view, keeping an eye on all vehicles at all times to make sure the agreed upon contracts are adhered to during the entire agreed upon duration of the shoot. During this entire process, our team is in communication you, the owner, and the production team.

4. Once production has wrapped and vehicle(s) are cleared for removal, the process is reversed. The media taken before the shoot is compared with the current state of the vehicle to make sure no damage/unexpected modifications have been done to the vehicle(s) and at that point the vehicle is able to be returned using an agreed upon transportation method and once all steps are cleared, the payment process is then started.

My vehicle has a manual or automatic transmission, is that ok?

1. Yes, we accept all vehicles with any transmission style. We strive to keep accurate specifications about your vehicle and our team is equipped to handle driving from a wide variety of driving configurations. If we encounter any difficulty, or you are hesitant, you may drive your own vehicle as well in most situations.

Can I be on set with my car?
1. This is usually possible! Depending on the location, security may be strict, so in some cases it may not be possible.

What if I can't be there?

1. If you are unable to make the shoot, rest assured that we do our very best to ensure the safety of your vehicle(s). Productions are sometimes multi-day events, and we understand you are busy, so we try to accommodate you and your vehicle(s) as best as possible.

How are multi-day rentals handled?
1. With multi-day rentals, we have many options. With these situations, the most frequent decisions are for the vehicles to be stored with us or for the vehicle to be returned.

What if something does happen to my vehicle?
1. We understand that even though we do our very best, unexpected accidents do happen. With all of our agreements, we require that the production companies and all transporters have insurance.

Is there a contract?
1. Yes, we have contracts with both you, the vehicle owner, and all companies we work with. In addition, all employees in our company are under strict NDA's, so rest assured that the security of your project is safe with all members of our team.
